Medicine for the Earth/Lightness of Being
December 10: Session Three  (closed)

Shamanism:  path of empowerment & healing
  with Kate Durda, M.A.

December 3rd, 2011 Saturday 11am - 5pm in the Lansing, Grand Ledge area.
$50 if pre registered by Thursday December 1 /$60 after that.
**only $15 for refresher fee, for anyone who learned the Shamanic Journey with SpiritWeavers or others.

Class is a pre- requisite for all other advanced Shamanic training and workshops offered.

Shamanism is an ancient and powerful spiritual practice utilized throughout history and still today to restore spiritual and physical health and obtain self-knowledge. The Shamanic Journey has been called one of the “most remarkable visionary methods used by humankind to explore the hidden universe otherwise known mainly through myth and dream”. Groundbreaking work in fields such as the 'new biology', quantum physics, and alternative medicine are validating what shamans and other wise spiritual healers knew and practiced  thousands of years ago. We know that the mind/body/spirit connection is of vital importance not only in helping us to heal from illness, but beyond that, to truly 'thrive' and live in a state of 'wellness'.

This will be an experiential workshop based upon the Foundation for Shamanic Studies (www.Shamanism.org)Core Shamanism” approach (those aspects of Shamanism that were common cross-culturally, and  central to all Shamanic practice). You will learn a practice to shift your your brain wave activity into more optimal states for healing. The benefits of one type of brain activity, the alpha brainwave, are the ability to relax and keep the mind on idle when not focused on specific task, heightened feelings of well-being and euphoria, increased creativity, and deep emotional healing.  Yet it has been found that 20 % of the population does not engage in alpha brain waves. Also, another benefit of shamanic practice  is that it allows us to engage in deep levels of self-healing, particularly on the subconscious level. You will learn methods for journeying to discover, and study with your own individual spiritual teachers in non-ordinary reality, a classic step in shamanic practice.

Bring a water bottle, snacks, journal, frame drum or rattle if you have them (I have extras if not!)  Please wear comfortable clothing, warm socks, & bring a bandanna or eye cover.  Bring rattles/frame drums if you have them.   Since often people prefer to journey while lying on the floor, you may want to bring a mat to lie on and a blanket to cover up with.  To register for this workshop, click here.

November 2011

FEAST for the DEAD
November 1, 2011  Annual honoring of our Ancestors; Potluck Feast.

Medicine for the Earth/Lightness of Being
November 12 -  Session Two (closed)

October, 2011

Medicine for the Earth Lightness of Being
with Kate Durda and Stephanie Tighe
5 Saturdays: Starting October 29th (
remaining dates Nov 12, Dec  10, Jan 7 and Jan 28)
Five Saturday course: closed after 1st session- same group meets together!

Cost:  $ 200 if prepaid by Oct 24th ; $250 if after.

In this supportive Shamanic initiation program, we move from within to without, moving beyond self into the ALL. We will start with taking our personal healing even deeper. You will practice deepening your ability to transcend the Ego self and transfigure into the Divine, within the supportive and loving Circle of our group.

Using spiritual methodologies and truths from many traditions (and the work of Sandra Ingerman, with whom we have trained intensively to teach "Medicine for the Earth") we will explore manifestation principles, miracles, and transmutation, again deepening our ability to raise the frequency of your vibration and expand your being to allow for even higher levels of “light”.  We will explore and experience transfiguration -connecting and merging  with the LIGHT that is at the core of all existence.  Finally, we will explore Healing with Spiritual Light, shining our light and love into the world through service, work, relationships, and play.

This is a three part series: five days over a course of several months to allow us to deepen our power and healing individually and collectively. Must have attended Part 1 to attend Part II, and so on.

Our intention at the end of this series is that everyone has benefitted deeply from the work, as well as many if not all of the group being interested in forming an ongoing active ‘healing community’, for ourselves and others.    Supporting development of our spiritual family that supports each of its’ members always, as well as in times of special need; and a spiritual community that shares it’s light with community in ways that are needed.

Medicine for the Earth/Lightness of Being

Part I:  Healing  Our Selves (Oct 29th & November 12th)

Part II:  One with the LIGHT- Raising Vibration (Dec 10 & January 7

Part III: Heaven on Earth – Healing with Spiritual Light through Service,
Relationships, Work and Play. (Jan 28)

THE WIND THAT BLOWS ACROSS THE SEA
A Celtic Retreat
              with  Dr. Tom Cowan
September 29-October 2, 2011
at
PIERCE CEDAR CREEK INSTITUTE  www.cedarcreekinstitute.org (see below for info on this lovely place!)

Contact us please for more details if you are interested!

Spirit Weavers has invited Dr. Tom Cowan, Celtic Shaman, Ph.D. to teach in Michigan over the years.  Workshops have included Celtic Shamanism: The Soul ;  Faery Doctoring;  Celtic Shamanism: The Ancestors, and the Two Year program in Celtic Shamanism.

In September, 2011, we are excited to announce that Tom will gather interested Two Year Celtic Shamanism graduates from around the country here in Michigan, for the first of hopefully an annual Gathering. See below for Tom's description of this event.

From Tom Cowan's website (http://www.RiverDrum.com)
Many people have requested continuing work in Celtic Shamanism beyond the two-year training program.  To meet this need we will experiment with annual Gatherings in Celtic Shamanism for anyone who has completed any of the two-year programs.  The first will be held September 29 to October 2, 2011. Location is the Kellogg Conference Center in Michigan.  We will begin on Thursday evening, September 29, 2011, and end at noon on Sunday, October 2nd.

THE WIND THAT BLOWS ACROSS THE SEA
A Celtic Retreat

“We are the wind that blows across the sea.”  Not only does the restless spirit of the shaman-poet blow across the seas but through forests, over mountains, across deserts and prairies, into the core of cities—to any place where the winds of spirit are needed to tend Earth’s disasters, heal suffering beings, and renew the forces of life when they have been threatened, blocked, or compromised. The Welsh poet Taliesin expressed this multi-shaped, go-anywhere identity of the shaman-poet more fully than the Irish Amergin who first spoke these words.  For Taliesin there was no being or place or era in which his shaman spirit could not manifest.  He stands as a strong Celtic model for shamanic practitioners who see their own lives as being intimately imbued with the Spirit that pervades all things, places, and times.

This retreat for all who have completed the two-year training program in Celtic Shamanism will begin on Thursday evening when we will meet and honor the spirits of our new location and enlist their help in our work.

Friday we will spend under Taliesin’s tutelage renewing our own shamanic abilities to connect with the Life Force and Dana energies that flow through all things.  We will prepare ourselves to become what Taliesin called “ardent souls that voyage through the clouds” and “defenders of the Cauldron’s fire” so that we might engage the world’s troubles from a position of strength, insight, and ancient wisdom.

This will prepare us to apply our shaman-poet skills on Saturday morning to do Shamanism without Borders work.  We will select locations for this depending on what disasters occur between now and then.  In the afternoon we prepare for the Wild Hunt which will be our evening’s activity.  So on Saturday we will have ample opportunities to be the wind that tends and renews the Life Force in the suffering places of the world.

On Sunday morning we will complete the post-Wild Hunt activities, assess our work, and prepare to carry our renewed commitment to shamanic practice back to the lands and homes where we live.

About Pierce Cedar Creek Institute.  PCCI is a 661 acre preserve of Mother Earth including glacial moraines and other glacial activity such as the “Little Grand Canyon’ on the property. It has been relatively untouched since the 1950’s, (other than Institute buildings and trail maintenance, etc) with trails, ponds and creeks and mixed habitats, all to ourselves to roam. It has been established under an easement granted by Southwest Michigan Land Conservancy.

The main building is truly beautiful, stone, wood, lots of glass.  The auditorium is beautiful for our use.  The food is excellent, lodging comfortable, and the staff spectacular.  And it is just the right size to become a yearly “home” to this Celtic Gathering!

Our inspiration for this Walk  is ...
           LIGHTNESS OF BEING
Location: Michigan Nature Conservancy, Bath, MI http://www.miwildlife.org

Background:

We first experienced the Shaman’s Walk years ago with Canadian friends in Windsor, Canada & Brenda Atkinson, who hosted this event. We attended several Shaman's Walks over the 'border' and always found them to be a powerful personal and community event!

Now, we are celebrating our 4th annual walk in mid-Michigan for the shamanic community near and far!  With this "Walk", we step up to our responsibilities as people of Spirit, who recognize our Oneness, and who embrace the idea

Come join us to re-commit ourselves to being all we can be, to 'DREAM the Good Dream', honor and protect Mother Earth and ALL Life, and to celebrate our connection to each other and all things with intense drumming, dancing, journeying, sharing and networking.

You are welcome to come with an open heart and a desire to experience the ecstasy of a large Shamanic Community.

SPIRITS OF NATURE(cancelled)

          with Stephanie Tighe, MSW
Saturday, April 30th from 10 am until 5 pm
$75 if registered by April 15th, $85 after that time

We will learn about working with the Spirits of Nature for healing and knowledge.  By learning from the plants and animals, from the rocks and winds and rivers, from the sun, moon and stars, Shamans helped their peoples live in harmony with the universe.

We will focus on learning to communicate with trees and plants, learning from them about the gifts they want to share with us, gifts that can bring healing, can bring peace or joy.  Plants that we may be working with include cedar, sweetgrass, lavender, elder flowers (depending on what is ready).  Part of what we will be doing is creating a small bundle/fetish to honor the plant spirit that you connect with.  We will empower the bundle/fetish and learn how to work with it.  We may also be working with the spirit of the stream and wind spirits.

Please dress for outside weather as we will be doing a bit of work outside.  Please bring a journal and pen and a sack lunch.  Tea, coffee and snacks will be provided

Pre-requisite is knowing how to journey using the technique as taught by the Foundation for Shamanic Studies
 or one of their students.
